Birney Robert

Georgia Tech

Birney Robert serves as strategist for external engagement and activation of arts + technology at Georgia Tech. In this role, she oversees relationship with arts organizations and industry partners as they relate to art and technology. Robert is also a curator, event coordinator, and principal investigator (PI) for art + tech initiatives. Previously, she was the sole PI and curator for a Microsoft and Georgia Tech’s Center for 21st Century Universities grant, awarded in the Fall of 2021. For this grant, she curated two exhibits on campus: “Extension of Self: What is means to be human in a digital world” and “Extension of Community: what it means to be sustainable in a digital world”, both exploring core themes about identity, accessibility and sustainability, and how we interact with art and technology in today’s digital world. Robert was also curator for Atlanta’s Art and Entertainment billboard project in the Summer of 2023.

Robert earned her master’s in museum anthropology from Georgia State University in Spring 2022. She graduated from Birmingham Southern College with a BFA in studio art. More recently, Robert received an award from the Georgia Association of Museums for her Microsoft grant exhibits at Georgia Tech. Robert’s media presence includes NPR WABE’s City Lights, Rough Draft, Arts ATL, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Saporta Report, and various Georgia Tech news stories.
